Wrapping up 2011

It’s been a few months since my last post and hopefully in 2012 my posts will be more frequent.  So what has been going on?? Before relocating to the Northeast in November, I had an opportunity to photograph District CrossFit Coach and Athlete, Noah.  We wanted to capture a lot of movements during the shoot so after a few hours it felt like both of use went through a workout.  My new flagship image on my website is Noah climbing a rope 20 feet high, this means I was 30 feet high on a ladder.  Yikes, but the risk paid off.

Fellow CrossFitters Kat and Joe are getting married in 2012 and I was honored when they asked me to take their engagement photos.  The location was on the grounds of George Washington Grist Mill and Distillery in VA, which included employees dressed in period clothing walking the grounds.  At the end of October, Virginia had an unexpected cold spell, which brought snow.  The day before we did this shoot, the region was blanketed with snow and one would never know that it was 35 degrees during the shoot.  Kat and Joe were troopers and I wish them all the best.

Another photography genre I love is food photography.  Local fitness coach and chef, Alison, is launching a new venture in 2012 called Counter Culture Cooking, which will be a web-based cooking show.  I had the pleasure of being on set during her first day of filming and captured both food images and behind the scene shots.  I can’t wait to see the first show!

Lastly, my fall photography projects brought me back to my hometown.  In August, my niece Cailin was born and her big sister Caroline is her biggest fan.  I had to take this opportunity to document their relationship in the early years and knock out the Christmas card photo.  Kids are always on the move so my photography skills developed while shooting sports were definitely utilized.  Cailin was 2 lbs 13oz when she was born and has made amazing leaps and bounds since August.  Her mom will be running the Boston Marathon this year in honor of her and raising money for the NICU that supported her and the family.  Check out her story here:  Beth Ann’s Running Boston and Meet Your Neighbor story.

So, 2012 is upon us.  I’m excited for my next adventure and see what photography project pops up along the way.

Happy Holidays!
